Orphan Care Field Officer

About Us: Love Justice International (LJI) is a Christian nonprofit driven by a singular mission: to share the love of Jesus Christ by fighting the world’s greatest injustices. We pursue this calling through two primary efforts—our expanding anti-human trafficking work and the care of orphaned and abandoned children.

We are looking for faithful, compassionate, and mission-driven problem-solvers—people who think deeply about how to fight injustice and share Christ’s love in a broken world. This isn’t just a job; it’s a calling. If you’re searching for an easy, comfortable career, there are plenty of other options. But if you’re drawn to work that demands sacrifice, boldness, and faith, we invite you to apply and explore how you can be part of this mission.

Love Justice International has been recognized as a Best Christian Workplace for four consecutive years (2021–2024). Learn more about who we are, what sets us apart, and our open positions at lovejustice.ngo/careers.

What We Offer: Opportunities to truly change lives are exceptionally rare—but at LJI, that is exactly the kind of impact you can have. Although we’re a nonprofit, we operate as an “Impact Engineering” organization, focused solely on maximizing real-world outcomes. By combining scientific and business principles with field-led, locally informed insights, we intercept potential trafficking victims for under $150 each, creating a ripple effect that prevents several more individuals from enslavement. This remarkable efficiency underscores the profound, far-reaching impact your work can have on countless lives.

Joining LJI means stepping into an opportunity to deeply impact lives by combating injustice and expressing the transformative love of Christ. At LJI, you'll be part of a connected, purpose-driven team committed to impactful, kingdom-class excellence.

We offer competitive and thoughtful benefits packages tailored to the specific role and location of our staff. Benefit offerings are designed to support wellness, work-life balance, and overall staff care. Details of specific benefits will vary based on location, local standards, and applicable regulations.

Position Type: Full Time; Support-Raised*; South Asia or South Africa

*If hired, the candidate must raise financial support to cover their own salary, benefits, and expenses. This is a way for the body of Christ to come together in the fight against injustice. LJI will provide administrative support, prayer, and resources—including guidance from our Support Raising Coach— to help build a support base. Please prayerfully consider whether you are called to step out in faith and raise support for this role.

Program and Position Overview: More than 15 million children worldwide are orphaned, and many more have been abandoned by their parents. These children are among the most salient examples of "the least of these" about whom Jesus speaks in Matthew 25:40. At LJI, we operate 17 family homes and one young adult hostel that provide care for over 200 orphaned or abandoned children in South Asia. Each home is overseen by house parents and at least one helper, and the entire program is supported by 12 national and international staff.  Our mission is to help them become difference makers for Christ by providing stable, loving, family-like homes that are developmentally enriching in every way.

To ensure excellence among our family homes in Asia and to prepare for possible expansion into new countries, Love Justice has developed 15 "core processes" to monitor each family home’s performance and compliance to the family homes standard. These processes involve a variety of different areas, such as Parent’s Interview & Recruiting, Counseling Needs Assessment and Plan, Child Protection, Family Home Operations, Malnutrition Checking, Children’s Future, and Training Manual.

To ensure excellence and accountability across our global operations, Love Justice has developed more than 30 core processes. These structured methods help our partners run their programs effectively in critical areas such as financial management, administration, human resources, data collection, security, potential victim care, investigations, and legal case support. While we aim to standardize these processes for consistency, we remain open to adapting them to meet specific local contexts and operational needs. Developing and implementing these processes is central to our core competency of "searching out the people, places, and tools to maximize mission impact.”

The role of an Orphan Care Field Officer is to help install and monitor compliance of these core processes. This position offers candidates the unique opportunity to apply their practical knowledge and skills to make a difference in the lives of orphans around the world. The core processes for which the Field Officer will be responsible would depend on her area(s) of professional expertise. Relevant fields include business, finance, accounting, counseling, training, child records, and assessments.

This position will report to the Family Home Director and is based in South Asia or South Africa. Travel to homes in other countries may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Core Process Installation - Field Officers will work closely with LJI core process Leads and Family Homes leadership to install necessary core processes.
  • Core Process Compliance - After the installation of a core process, Field Officers will be assigned one or more core processes for which they will assist the core process Lead in closely tracking compliance.
    • Follow up training will often stem from this compliance monitoring work and Field Officers will be expected to take initiative to ensure our national partners understand what is required of them.
  • Family Homes Pilot Projects - As a member of the family homes program team, Field Officers will remain available to assist in new project ideas. A particular Field Officer’s passions, skills, and expertise will be taken into account.
