Process Improvement Specialist Fellowship

About Us: Love Justice International (LJI) is a Christian nonprofit driven by a singular mission: to share the love of Jesus Christ by fighting the world’s greatest injustices. We pursue this calling through two primary efforts—our expanding anti-human trafficking work and the care of orphaned and abandoned children.

We are looking for faithful, compassionate, and mission-driven problem-solvers—people who think deeply about how to fight injustice and share Christ’s love in a broken world. This isn’t just a job; it’s a calling. If you’re searching for an easy, comfortable career, there are plenty of other options. But if you’re drawn to work that demands sacrifice, boldness, and faith, we invite you to apply and explore how you can be part of this mission.

Love Justice International has been recognized as a Best Christian Workplace for five consecutive years (2021–2025), most recently achieving the “Flourishing” category—the highest level of organizational health. What We Offer: Opportunities to truly change lives are exceptionally rare—but at LJI, that is exactly the kind of impact you can have. Although we’re a nonprofit, we operate as an “Impact Engineering” organization, focused solely on maximizing real-world outcomes. By combining scientific and business principles with field-led, locally informed insights, we intercept potential trafficking victims for under $150 each, creating a ripple effect that prevents several more individuals from enslavement. This remarkable efficiency underscores the profound, far-reaching impact your work can have on countless lives.

Joining LJI means stepping into an opportunity to deeply impact lives by combating injustice and expressing the transformative love of Christ. At LJI, you'll be part of a connected, purpose-driven team committed to impactful, kingdom-class excellence.

We offer competitive and thoughtful benefits packages tailored to the specific role and location of our staff. Benefit offerings are designed to support wellness, work-life balance, and overall staff care. Details of specific benefits will vary based on location, local standards, and applicable regulations.

Position Type: Full Time; One Year Support Raised Fellowship*; Ballito, South Africa

*Fellowship Model: This role begins as a one-year support-raised fellowship. Fellows raise financial support to fund their role while serving with Love Justice International. LJI provides administrative support, prayer, and resources—including guidance from our Support Raising Coach—to help fellows build and steward a support team.

During the fellowship year, fellows serve as full members of the LJI team with clear responsibilities and regular performance evaluation.

At the conclusion of the fellowship year, fellows who demonstrate strong performance and alignment with organizational needs may be considered for a salaried role if an appropriate position and funding are available.

Program and Position Overview: Love Justice International combats human trafficking through transit monitoring—intercepting potential victims at key transportation hubs, where traffickers and victims are most visible. Because trafficking is already underway at these points, our teams can gather vital information to assist law enforcement in arresting traffickers and disrupting trafficking networks. To date, LJI has intercepted over 110,000 individuals, resulting in more than 2,000 arrests.

To ensure excellence and accountability across our global operations, LJI has developed around 130 core processes—roughly half governing how we operate internally as an organization, and half installed directly with field partners to run the program. Together these processes cover everything from data collection and legal case support to HR, financial management, and security. Developing, improving, and essentializing this full library is central to our mission—and central to this role.

Organizations that pursue excellence over time face a predictable challenge: complexity accumulates. Processes grow. Documentation expands. Steps that once served a purpose become load-bearing habits. LJI takes this seriously—and has given it a name. We call the discipline of resisting unnecessary complexity "essentializing," and we believe it is as important to our mission as building strong processes in the first place.

The Process Improvement Fellow exists to help us do both. Based at Program HQ in South Africa and reporting to the Chief of Staff, this fellow will serve as an internal consultant and improvement partner to Leads across the organization—coming alongside them to identify where processes can be simplified, standardized, or better documented, and then actively collaborating to build the solution. This is a role for someone who finds genuine satisfaction in making things clearer, leaner, and more effective—and who can do that work in a way that earns trust with the people closest to the work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Leads - Serve as an embedded improvement partner to program and functional Leads. Help them see their own processes with fresh eyes—identifying what can be simplified, eliminated, standardized, or better documented—and collaborate with them to design and implement the solution.
  • Resist Complexity Drift - Proactively identify where processes, documentation, or workflows have accumulated unnecessary complexity over time. Bring a constructive, evidence-based case for change to the relevant Lead and support them through it.
  • Improve and Essentialize Documentation - Work within LJI's documentation ecosystem (including the National Field Manual and related process guides) to ensure standards are clear, current, and no longer than they need to be. Propose revisions in collaboration with process owners and stakeholders.
  • Standardize Where It Matters - Identify high-variance processes where inconsistency is hurting outcomes, and partner with Leads to develop standards that can be reliably applied across diverse field contexts.
  • Support the Improvement Audit Cycle - Contribute to LJI's Core Process Improvement Audit by helping analyze results, identifying patterns, and following through on improvement priorities with the relevant process owners.
  • Build Organizational Capacity - Over time, help LJI develop shared language and lightweight frameworks for process improvement that Leads can apply independently—so the discipline of essentializing becomes part of how the organization works, not just something one person does.

Christian Culture: The work at Love Justice International (including the duties listed above) is conducted within a culture that strives to emulate Christ and make Him first and central. As part of our team, we seek staff who embrace the following expressions of what it means to Abide in Christ, our first Global Value:

  • Our primary identity is in Christ
  • We believe God is sovereign over injustice
  • We are made, called, and led By Christ
  • We commit to connect with Jesus
  • Prayer should be central to our work
  • Our conduct is our testimony

We believe that our mission is not only about what we do but how we do it—through faith, prayer, and obedience to Christ.

Qualifications:

  • Mission & Faith Alignment
    • Mature Christian faith and agreement with our Global Value to “Abide in Christ”
    • Knowledge, understanding, and agreement with how the Christian Gospel ministers to “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40) and guides us in our mission
    • Agreement with our Core Value “Be the Kingdom”(in mission execution and personal conduct)
    • Acknowledgment of our Statement of Faith
    • Passion for justice and advocacy on behalf of vulnerable populations.
  • Education & Experience
    • 3+ years of experience in an operational or organizational role with demonstrated process improvement work — meaning you have actually simplified, standardized, or rebuilt a process, not just participated in one
    • Experience in international, cross-cultural, or development contexts preferred
  • Competencies & Skills
    • A demonstrated habit of asking "why does this exist?" — with examples of processes, documents, or systems you have made meaningfully simpler or better
    • Comfortable delivering an honest assessment to someone who owns the thing you're critiquing—diplomatically direct, not conflict-averse
    • Strong relational skills; able to earn trust with people who are closest to the work and may be protective of how things are done
    • Excellent written communication; able to produce documentation that is clear and concise for non-native English speakers
    • Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
    • Comfort working in a small, high-accountability team where scope regularly exceeds structure
    • Ability to work well in cross-cultural contexts
    • Proficiency with Google Suite; familiarity with data analysis tools preferred
