Position Level: Coordinator or Director**

**The position level, which determines both the position's level of responsibility and its total compensation and benefits, will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, skills, and years of experience.

Position Type: Full Time; Support-Raised*; Overseas (South Asia)

  • If hired, the candidate will be required to raise financial support to cover his/her own salary, benefits, and expenses. Raising support is a key example of the body of Christ supporting its members and joining in the fight against injustice. LJI will provide administrative and prayer support throughout the process, as well as guidance and resources to build up a support base. Position Overview: More than 15 million children worldwide are orphaned, and many more have been abandoned by their parents. These children are among the most salient examples of "the least of these" about whom Jesus speaks in Matthew 25:40.

At LJI, we operate 16 family homes and 1 hostel that care for over 200 children in Asia. Each home is overseen by houseparents and at least one helper, and the entire program is supported by 12 national and international staff. Our mission is to help these children become difference-makers for Christ by providing stable, loving, family-like homes that are developmentally enriching in every way.

The School Psychologist will facilitate the continuous assessment and evaluation of any/all children living in LJI's family homes, including those who have experienced trauma and injury, and will train staff, teachers, and parents on how to effectively educate and interact with those children who possess learning disabilities, emotional trauma, disorders, etc. This position will require living in Asia (with extensive travel) and will report to the Director of Family Homes. Frequent home visitation will be essential.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The School Psychologist will utilize strong cognitive skills, both qualitative and quantitative, to maintain and improve upon LJIs data-driven, multi-pronged approach to addressing our children's emotional and learning needs. Specific responsibilities of the position will include the following:

  • Managing the psycho-educational evaluation and assessment process

  • Procuring and analyzing comparison data between LJIs children and control groups from the community in varying aspects of the wholistic child

  • Writing and presenting comprehensive evaluation reports

  • Developing individualized education plans (IEPs)

  • Helping teachers implement classroom accommodations

  • Running school-wide mental health initiatives and training

  • Collaborating with parents, teachers, and other healthcare providers

  • Continuing to work with students to monitor their progress

Other Projects: Depending on the qualifications and passions of the candidate, this position may also include getting involved in developing, refining, and implementing other core processes and projects.

Qualifications:

  • A mature Christian faith that enables the candidate to focus their work through a Christ-based lens

  • A masters degree in school psychology or in education with an emphasis in school psychology

  • Sufficient training and experience working with students, teachers, parents, and community mental health providers to address learning and behavioral problems, preferred

  • Sound knowledge of school-based assessments and psychological evaluations

  • Ability to work well within a group setting and maintain a positive outlook working within challenging circumstances

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Problem-solving and logical reasoning skills

  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation

  • Strong passion for children's development, children's rights, and justice
