Position Type: Full Time; Support-Raised*; South Africa

*If hired, the candidate must raise financial support to cover their own salary, benefits, and expenses. This is a way for the body of Christ to come together in the fight against injustice. LJI will provide administrative support, prayer, and resources—including guidance from our Support Raising Coach— to help build a support base. Program and Position Overview: To ensure excellence and accountability across our global operations, Love Justice has developed more than 30 core processes. These structured methods help our partners run their programs effectively in critical areas such as financial management, administration, human resources, data collection, security, potential victim care, investigations, and legal case support. While we aim to standardize these processes for consistency, we remain open to adapting them to meet specific local contexts and operational needs. Developing and implementing these processes is central to our core competency of "searching out the people, places, and tools to maximize mission impact.”

LJI prioritizes a rigorous, data-driven approach to maximize impact and minimize harm. We use careful data collection and analysis to measure our effectiveness, continually refining and improving our anti-trafficking interventions. Adhering to the principle of "fail fast and often," we test innovative ideas quickly, discard what doesn't work, and scale interventions proven to produce the greatest measurable good per dollar spent. This disciplined, iterative approach helps us remain accountable to our mission, ensuring that every action we take truly benefits those we serve.

The Spreadsheet Specialist will work to both maintain and improve key spreadsheets while also working with stakeholders to create new spreadsheets as required. In some cases the Spreadsheet Specialist will need to use Google Apps Scripts or Python to provide the functionality necessary.

The Spreadsheet Specialist will report to the Programmer Analyst.The position will be preferably be based in Ballito, South Africa but we are open to remote candidates.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Communicate with stakeholders to gather requirements
  • Develop new spreadsheets in and maintain existing spreadsheets in an organized manner
  • Write Google Apps Scripts to manipulate and store data
  • Create formulas to perform complex analysis of data across multiple sheets
  • Occasionally use Python to run complex calculations to increase performance

Qualifications: 

  • Mission & Faith Alignment
    • Mature Christian faith and agreement with our Global Value to “Abide in Christ”
    • Knowledge, understanding, and agreement with how the Christian Gospel ministers to “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40) and guides us in our mission
    • Agreement with our Core Value “Be the Kingdom”(in mission execution and personal conduct)
    • Acknowledgment of our Statement of Faith
    • Passion for justice and advocacy on behalf of vulnerable populations.
  • Experience & Skills
    • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related field
    • Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
    • Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and willingness to adapt to changing and challenging circumstances
    • High standard of personal discipline
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Familiarity with working with complex spreadsheets
    • Proficiency with Google Sheets and Google Apps Scripts
    • Proficiency with Python preferred
    • Ability to work well within a group setting and maintain a positive outlook while working within challenging circumstances
